My work

I would like to tell you something about my project and my work here. I work for the popular organisation 'Caritas'. They have different projects to help people who needs help. So they have projects for unemployed people, old people, disabled people, young people. I work with young people in a kind of youth centre or in polish 'swietlica'. More precisely in two youth centres. One is in Sopot. I'm there for three days a week. They have two groups of children and youth there. One group is with children in the age of 10-15. I really like this group. You can do nice things with them. Cooking, playing, doing creative things... I also play football with them. It's really great because so I can do at my work what I prefer to do. The other group is with youth from 16-20. I don't like so much to work with them because they are a group of friends only sitting there and talking and surfing on the internet. But it is ok. My other workplace is in Gdansk-Orunia. This is a very poor district and quite dangerous. The kids there are also very difficult. They have many problems in their families at home like unemployment or alcoholism. Many kids are very aggressive and fighting and shouting a lot. But I like them. You can do nice things with them. They are happy when you play some ball or table games with them. I  think that it is really good that they have this youth centre where they can go because they need helps.

My first two months in Gdansk

Hallo and welcome to this blog!
Now I'm here in Poland for exactly two months. Sometimes I think 'wow the time is running so fast' and sometimes 'hm... only two month passed and I'll stay here ten month longer'. I think that this really depends on my feelings ;-). But for the most time, I really like my 'new life' here in Poland. I life together with two other girls. One girl from Hungary. She is also a volunteer. The other girl is a polish student. Both are really nice. I don't meet them very often here in the flat becaue they get up early and went to bed early. I start work at 12.00 or 14.00 and come back home late. But I don't like my work hours so much becaue I have a lot of free-time in the morning and there is nothing to do. I wanted to join a sports-club but the training is when I'm still working. Ok, but I think that I have to do enough by learning the Polish language. I can't believe that it is so difficult to learn... but it is. I have polish lesson two times a week togehter with a girl from Turkey. I really enjoy this international life here. I met so many nice  people from different countries. Also on my On-arrival-training in Warsaw. The most were Germans but it was very funny and useful. I hope that I'll visit many people at there place here in Poland. Because I really want to see as much as possible of the country. I started with places which are nearby Gdansk. So I visited the halfisland 'Hel' and Malbork with its popular castle. And of course Warsaw. I also went a bit arround here in Tricity (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia). I really enjoy to walk at the nice seaside and through the old town of Gdansk. Ok, this was my first entry. In the next weeks and month more will follow...
